Our field trip followed the life of a rock: from the volcano, to the tools and structures built by the ancient Hawaiian people, to the modern concrete mixture we walk on every day. Students see how culture, time and geology affect their own very modern lives.

Poi Pounder.
We also saw a Mauna Kea black adze but I accidentally deleted that photo. If you were the owner of the hard, smooth rock that made the adze, you were wealthy. It was rare and mainly found on Mauna Kea. |
